Ministry Goals:
To seek to meet the needs of each and every woman that seeks refuge at Wholeness House in whatever capacity that may be. Initially the needs may be for safety, shelter, food, or comfort. She may be seeking refuge from an abusive spouse or partner, may have just suffered eviction and not have a safe place for her children to be. She may have lost her only source of income through corporate down-sizing or because of drug and alcohol addictions and not be capable of retaining employment long enough to earn a consistent income. Wholeness House Ministries in general and Women's Ministries, specifically, focuses on addressing the issues creating the problems not simply speaking to the problem. With the love, grace and mercy of our Savior, Jesus Christ, which we were once given, we now go forward and share with others, who are in need of the same.
Safety - To provide a safe haven for battered, abused women leaving homes where abuse is prevalent or may have only been a one time occurrence. It is not significant to this facility the frequency of the abuse, only that abuse has occurred. The victim will be provided safety and refuge from the threat ,regardless. Once that safety is established, they will be put in contact with social services and legal counsel and steps towards legal independence will be initiated. This will be one of the critical steps that must be entered into voluntarily by the client if Wholeness House is to be able to offer a safe refuge as vacillation in this area of their safety will jeopardize the safety of the entire house. The women seeking refuge will be allowed to fully understand this prior to entering the home and be able to fully consent prior. Safety will never be denied. Residential treatment and registration will not be permitted if this commitment can not be entered into by both parties fully.
Shelter -- To provide shelter for those temporarily displaced from their homes as a result of eviction, foreclosure, or transient living in a vehicle or the street. Wholeness House seeks to offer short-term provision for women in this situation while at the same time providing job training and substance intervention if the need is present. Our ministry will accept placement from court appointments and will be accountable to report back to the court as to the progress of the appointee during the course of the programs. At the completion of the job training and/or drug-alcohol treatment program, the resident will be provided with assistance in securing a residence in Palm Beach, Martin, or St. Lucie Counties, using a variety of mortgage assistance programs in which they will participate in either re-mediating the properties or rent with an option to own so that there will be a personal accomplishment in the purchase of the home.
Food -- To provide food for the residents of Wholeness House so that proper eating habits can be established and good nutrition can be restored to the bodies of many who have probably been deprived for some time. In the long term it is the desire of the directors that classes throughout the community will be taught to educate those who would not be able to learn proper nutrition or eating principles through any other vehicle.
C Comfort-- To provide comfort to those suffering with physical and emotional pain, whether it's self-inflicted or caused by others. Wholeness House will accomplish this by offering in-house biblical counseling, one-on-one counseling, outside referral to licensed healthcare professionals and pastoral care.
